and practical applications. Public Safety organizations are facing complex challenges that
require ethical leaders who act with moral courage, to enhance public trust.
The ETHOS Academy Adaptive Ethics: Character Development Course will encompass a variety of theories of Police Ethics including:
Structural Affiliation, Society at Large and The Bad Apple Theory.
Discussion topics will include: mental preparedness for a successful law enforcement career and the positive aspects of policing.
Course Objectives:
– Educating students on theories of police deviance.
– Exploration of students individual core values with hands-on drills.
– Analytics of the value of pro-social thinking on suicide, decertification, PTSD.
Each participant will receive a three-hour certificate of training after completing the course. This certificate can be use for the DPSST Ethics Training requirement.

Greg grew up in Southern Oregon where he enjoyed playing sports including; baseball and football for the North Medford High School Black Tornado. After graduating high school in 1990, Greg attended Western Oregon State College (WOSC) where he enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). In 1994, Greg graduated from WOSC as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States (U.S.) Army Military Police Corps where he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While in the U.S. Army, he served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for the 101st MP Company. He also held assignments as a Special Reaction Team (SRT) Commander, Operations Officer, K-9 Commander, and Special Operations Officer for Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). During Greg’s service in the U.S Army he instructed thousands of Soldiers in various tactical and specialized police disciplines. In 1998, Greg decided to leave the U.S. Army and was hired by the Oregon State Police (OSP) where he was stationed in Salem, Oregon. He later transferred to Medford, Oregon with the ultimate intent to raise his family along with his wife, Paula. While employed by the Oregon State Police, Greg has held assignments including; Resident Trooper (Polk County), Motorcycle Officer, K-9 Handler, and is currently assigned as a Bomb Technician for the OSP in Central Point, Oregon. Greg has instructed thousands of police officers and Soldiers in a variety of topics including; Criminal Apprehension through Patrol Enforcement (C.A.P.E.), Search and Seizure, K-9 application, Leadership, Ethics, and is currently employed as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Oregon University (SOU). In 2014, Greg graduated with his Master’s Degree from Western Oregon University (WOU) in Criminal Justice where he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Building upon his education, Greg implemented the Ethics That Help Organizations Succeed (ETHOS) Academy to various police departments and parole and probation departments. The “ETHOS Academy” is a comprehensive training program that instills a “real life” training approach emphasizing the concepts of ethical awareness, leadership, and successful strategies to maintain a successful career. The ETHOS Academy is currently being adopted by; Medford Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Community Justice, Josephine County Community Correction, and given to the United States Army in 2017. Greg and Paula currently live in Medford, Oregon where they enjoy raising their four children; Brooke, Chance, Jennika and Jace.

Chuck Glose, an IBSC Certified Tactical Paramedic, offers an in-person, Advanced First Aid Course. This 3-hour course follows the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care guidelines, for care of patients aged pediatric through geriatric.
The course follows trauma care guidelines and provides training that has been credited with saving countless lives in common, everyday settings as well as life- threatening situations.
In a pre-hospital scenario style, the class covers significant injury care. Concepts include: tourniquet application, wound packing, airway opening and sealing sucking chest wounds.
OBJECTIVES and CONCEPTS:
-Understanding and changing trauma response mindsets. Maximizing performance through breathing techniques to control heart rate
-Locating and identifying treatable, life-threatening injuries. Selecting the correct modalities to treat them.
-Applying tourniquets.
-Wound packing.
-Airway opening and positioning to prevent aspiration in patients.
-Chest seals for thoracic injuries.
-Stop-gap measures with bodyweight or manual pressure to stop arterial blood loss.

Instructor Chuck Glose is a long time Rogue Valley resident. In 1998, he began his firefighting career with the Hendersonville Fire Department in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He became a paramedic in 2001. Chuck joined the Medford (Oregon) Fire Department in 2003. In 2009 he created the departments’ Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Active Shooter Response programs. Since then, he’s taught TCCC and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) to hundreds of firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and medical personnel. He was promoted to Captain in 2011. Over the next several years, he assisted in a collaboration between the Medford Police and Fire Departments in creating a SWAT medic program and he’s currently a SWAT Medic. He is also a four-time presenter at the State of Jefferson EMS Conference and has consulted Fire and Law Enforcement agencies on incorporating medical personnel into active shooter response. He has also trained regional K9 handlers in K9 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. In 2019 he opened TECC instruction to the civilian community and has taught in varied groups from firearms enthusiasts to winery staff to members of the Humane Society. His awards include Firefighter of the Year, Lifesaving Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Medal of Valor. Rob Havice is the owner and founder of Rogue K-9 Llc. in Medford Oregon. Rob was born and raised in Southern Oregon and in May of 1990 he was hired by the Talent Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. In 1992, Rob was hired by the Medford Police Department. Since joining the Medford Police Department, Rob has served as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, member of the S.W.A.T. Team, E.V.O.C. Instructor, President of the Medford Police Officers Association, K-9 Handler, member of the Gang and Street Drugs Unit, member of the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team and a Task Force Officer with Homeland Security Investigations (H.S.I.). Rob has numerous commendations and awards through MPD that include Officer of The Year in 2017. Rob first joined the Medford Police K-9 Team as a decoy in 1995. He obtained his first patrol K-9 in 1998. Since joining the team, Rob has handled six K-9’s for MPD. Rob is currently handling two drug detection K-9’s for the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team (MADGE) and he is the first handler in Oregon to train, imprint and certify a police K-9 on fentanyl. Rob joined the Oregon Police Canine Association (OPCA) in 1995. Rob has been a trainer with OPCA since 2001 and served as the detection chairman for 13 years. Rob has been a member of the California Narcotics Canine Association (CNCA) since 2000 and he has been a certifying official and trainer with CNCA since 2003 and he is currently the president of CNCA.
